Here is the latest upgrade to 'the original' alternative SETUP.EXE. See the help file "Change History" topic for a list of new or modified features. This help file describes in great depth how to use SETUP.EXE and all its features.
Although it was originally created for use with Microsoft's Visual Basic (to provide an advanced alternative to the SETUP.EXE supplied with that product) it can easily be used with other Windows development systems such as Borland's Delphi.
SETUP.EXE is the program which the user runs to install your application (as in A:\SETUP). It is designed to pre-install specific files (such as DLLs and VBXs) which are used by a main Setup program (for VB developers this will generally be SETUP1.EXE) which performs the actual application installation. Once these files are installed SETUP.EXE will run the main Setup program, passing it any user command line parameters.
Previous versions have had over 3500 downloads on CompuServe alone and have cropped up in a number of commercial products!
SETUP.EXE Professional is not free. You may evaluate it for as long as you wish but if you want to distribute any applications using SETUP.EXE you must purchase the licensed version for $10 to $15 - see the REGISTER.TXT file or the "Registration Information" topic in the help file for complete details.
You can also purchase the complete source code to SETUP.EXE (which includes a registered copy of SETUP.EXE) for $20 to $25 - for information please see the SOURCE.TXT file or the "Registration Information" topic in the help file.

Installation
============
Unless this product was automatically installed for you, we suggest you create an appropriate directory within your development software product (for example, for Visual Basic developers a directory of SETUPPRO under \VB\SETUPKIT\ would be ideal) and copy the contents of the distribution archive to it.
Note: Do not run the 'SETUP.EXE' within the archive in an attempt to install this product - it is the product.
Once you have installed the files please take a look at the Windows help file SETUPEXE.HLP which contains detailed information on how to use this product.
The VENDINFO.DIZ file contains more detailed product distribution and description information.
